Main part

Knit in the round. Cast on 198-210-228-234-240 stitches on 3.5 mm needles and knit 6 rounds in garter stitch (1 circle knit, 1 circle purl), switch to 4 mm needles and continue in stockinette stitch to height 32 -36-39-43-46 cm. Next. knit in the round: * 4 sts, 2 sts together, repeat from * in the round = 165-175-190-195-200 sts. Next. round: * 3 sts, 2 sts together, repeat from * around = 132-140-152-156-160 sts. Switch to 3.5 mm needles and knit 5 rounds in garter stitch, starting with a purl circle. , switch again to 4 mm knitting needles and knit 1 round of knit stitches, continue knitting with pearl stitch. At the same time, at a height of 37-41-45-49-53 cm, knit: bind off 6 stitches for the sleeve armhole, knit 60-64-70-72-74 stitches = front, bind off 6 stitches for the sleeve armhole and knit to the end of the row = back. Next, knit the front and back separately.

Back

60-64-70-72-74 sts. Continue working with pearl stitch and at the same time cast off on both sides in each row 1 st. 4-4-5-5-5 times = 52-56-60-62 -64 p. After 48-53-58-63-68 cm, close the central 18-20-24-26-28 p. for the neckline and then knit both parts separately, making decreases of 1 p. on each side 2 times neckline = 15-16-16-16-16 cm. At a height of 50-55-60-65-70 cm bind off the remaining stitches.

Before

60-64-70-72-74 p. Close off the loops for the armholes as for the back. After 41-45-49-53-57 cm, close the central 12-14-16-18-18 stitches for the neckline and then decrease in each row in the neckline line: 2 stitches 1 time, 1 stitch 3- 3-4-4-5 rep(s) = 15-16-16-16-16 sts. Finish like back stitch.

Pockets

On 4 mm knitting needles, cast on 18-18-20-20-22 sts and knit 9-9-10-10-11 cm with pearl stitch, then knit 2 rows of knit stitches. and in the next row close the loops. Make a picot border (do not knit the border along the row of closed loops).

The dress is not a dress, the jumper is not a jumper, but a practical and comfortable tunic with pockets, knitted with raglan needles at the top. It can be knitted on knitting needles, or on a knitting machine. The approach will be somewhat different, since you cannot place such a number of loops on a machine. And you will have to divide it into parts: back, front, pocket details and sleeves.

But on knitting needles you can knit it on top according to the description below. This model is suitable for ladies of different sizes. Due to the cut and lines of the pockets, even a pregnant belly will not be so noticeable. At first it seems that it is difficult to understand this number of changes and increases and decreases. However, you just need to knit it once according to the description and adjust it to suit yourself, and everything will turn out to be simple and easy. The only inconvenience is the large number of loops on the knitting needles. But you can adapt to this too.

The tunic has the author's name Still light Tunic By Veera Valimaki. This article is a translation from a foreign resource. We call it a tunic with pockets. It is a pleasure to knit and wear. See how to knit it with knitting needles below.

Note

If you knit it on a machine, then it is clear that you will need patterns for the details. Separately the back, separately the sleeves and special attention to the front. It consists of four stages: first, one pocket with burlap is untied together, then the other.

Next we knit the lower part of the front and hang the pocket details on both sides. Knitting continues upward like a regular front. With raglan decreases or knitted armholes, depending on the model. All the details of the tunic with pockets on the machine come from below - knitting from above did not justify itself.

One size fits all tunic. According to the above calculations, it fits from 44 to 48-50 Russian sizes. In addition, the tunic looks great on almost any figure: standing and tall; short and stocky. You can use this idea as many times as you like. It is enough to add jacquards along the hem and sleeves, make the neckline smaller or even untie it from the golf collars, like a sweater, and there will be different models. At least for going out, at least for home. A very cozy thing.

Playing with length, we get a tunic, jumper or dress. Depends on the yarn, desire and skill of the needlewoman. Warm for winter, office, light for summer - the base can be used for things for a wide variety of purposes.

You just need to understand the technology and not be afraid of the large number of stitches on the knitting needles. There are knitting needles on a fishing line for this, so the problem is completely fixable.

  • Work in stockinette stitch for an additional 26cm/10". Change to 2x2 rib stitch (k2, p2; repeat until end) and knit in rib stitch for another 2.5cm/1".

Sleeves

Place the stitches of one sleeve on stocking needles, mark the beginning with a marker and connect in a circular row.

*Knit straight in stockinette stitch 2.5 cm

Decrease circle, row: K1, knit 2 stitches together, knit up to 3 stitches before marker, decrease stitch with left slant (ssk), k1.

  • Repeat from * 3 (3; 4; 3; 3) more times.

  • Proceed to knitting 2×2 rib and knit it another 2.5 cm/1".
  • Close the elastic loops loosely.
  • Knit the second sleeve in the same way.

Pockets

Knit pockets on the outside of the tunic, then turn them inside and close the loops.

Right pocket

  • From the right side, place the right pocket stitches from the stitch holder onto double needles and cast on 10 (13; 16; 19; 23) stitches from the cast-on edge.
  • Join in the round and work in stockinette stitch until the pocket pouch is 15cm deep.
  • Turn the pocket pouch onto the inside of the tunic (the stockinette side is now exposed) and bind off the stitches on the purl side using the method of casting off the stitches using the third needle:
  • Divide the stitches evenly onto two double needles and begin casting off the stitches from the side seams of the body.

Left pocket

From the right side, cast on 10 (13; 16; 19; 23) stitches from the cast-on edge and place the stitches from the left pocket stitch holder on double needles. Join in the round and work in stockinette stitch until the pocket pouch is 15cm deep.

Turn the pocket pouch onto the inside of the tunic (the stockinette side is now exposed) and bind off the stitches on the purl side using the third needle method: divide the stitches evenly onto two double needles and begin casting off the stitches from the body side seams.

Assembly

Carefully sew the pocket pouch closed with the edge using the third knitting needle to the tunic with a few stitches (this will prevent the pockets from turning outward when wearing the tunic). Hide all ends and sew a button to the neckline on the back. Steam the tunic.

Girls, hello everyone!
I knitted this tunic 3 years ago, but recently updated it with sleeves and plus knitted a cole to it, so I decided to show you here in the topic.
At the time I knitted it, I was size 48-50, and size M fit me well. Now I am 10 kg less, but in my opinion the fit is also normal, so it’s not scary to tie it loosely :)
I showed the tunic for the first time.
And today's version

I cast on the loops as written for size M, only very tightly and with thin knitting needles, because you also have to count on the fact that the neckline will pull down under the weight of the product. The neckline is square, but there are short rows in the description, so the neckline fits comfortably. It seems to me that for those who want a higher neckline, they could simply start not with the elastic, but immediately with the main part, and then tie the elastic to the desired height.
Well, when the increases in pockets begin, it seems that the hips will be too loose, just a disaster! but when the pockets are ready and tucked inside, then everything falls into place. In my subjective opinion, when these pockets are tight on the hips, it doesn’t look very good... well, again, it depends on how you are going to wear this tunic - if as a dress, then you can use narrower tights, but I actually I wear it with jeans, so under the loose silhouette the jeans pockets and belt don’t stand out.
