10 names of salsa movements, the translation of which you might not know! Although, who are we kidding, you are already seasoned salseros and salseras who know all the salsa teams very well. But, maybe someone will be interested in this or someone hasn’t remembered everything yet, and this post will be a kind of cheat sheet.)) So, at the first salsa lesson, many feel confused. Compare the teacher’s commands to a secret language understood only by initiates: “We start with guapea, then we do basilala, we move to dilekeno and we end with dama.” What is "basilala"? "Telekino"? Do you mean "cinema"? What does the lady have to do with it? In this article, Irina Kharseeva, a linguist and co-founder of the Center for Spanish Language and Culture, helped to understand words that are unusual for Russian ears. First, let's remember the history. In 1956, in Havana, the capital of Cuba, the Casino Deportivo (Spanish for “sports club”) club was very popular among Cuban youth. It was there that young people first began to gather in a circle (Spanish: rueda) and perform the same movements. To distinguish them, dancers began to come up with names for the figures. They had to be not only short, but also meaningful, because there is little time to pronounce the command, and all partners must understand what movement will be next. Over time, the dance began to gain popularity and went beyond the club, but retained the name of the place where it was born. It is known throughout the world as Rueda de Casino, that is, “Rueda from the Casino Club.” This is where the name of the whole style came from - casino. To dance this style, it is not necessary to know Spanish, but understanding the meaning of the movements performed is highly recommended. Irina Kharseeva translated the names of 10 figures that are mastered in classes in the first months of training. Today we will tell you about 3 figures, we will look at the rest tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. :) Guapea. The full name is Guapería, but the dance uses a shortened form - guapea. The word comes from the adjective guapo(a) - beautiful, and the Spanish suffix "-ería" indicates an action that is characteristic of a given person. That is, guapería is the act of a beautiful person. In Cuba, this word has an additional meaning - “bragging, boasting.” The movement itself represents the basic step in an open position. Mentally imagine that there is a mirror between your partner and your partner, and everyone is looking at their reflection. In this case, the partners perform a basic step, and the partners do the same: on the count of 1, the left leg goes back, on the count of 5, the right leg goes forward. This position is an excellent opportunity for partners to demonstrate their best qualities and show off their dancing skills. Exhibela. Exhibir in Spanish means “to show, to put on display.” By performing this figure, partners show their partners in the best light, making it clear to other dancers what they have lost. The figure is executed from a closed position. At 1,2,3 basic steps are taken. At 5,6,7, the partners continue to take the basic step, and the partners go forward with a clockwise turn. Dile que no/Dile que si. Dile que no is translated from Spanish as “tell him/her no” (the imperative form of the verb decir - to speak), in turn, Dile que sí - “tell him/her yes”. In the first case, partners move from a closed (close) position to an open one and stand at arm’s length to each other - we say “no” to the current partner and wait for the command to move to the next one. On the count of 1, the partners take a step towards the center of the rueda, and on 3, they stand facing the center of the rueda. Partners at 1,2,3 take the usual basic step and do not turn around. At 5, the partner goes back, freeing up the passage for the partner. At 6.7, the partner escorts the partner past him from right to left. After performing the figure, all dancers stand facing the center of the rueda. 1.

Therefore, of course, everything that can be grown independently is better - it is cheaper, more environmentally friendly, and healthier. One of the most important events in the life of every young girl is, of course, the school prom. This event marks the end of an entire school era and is a kind of “bridge” to adulthood. In addition, this is one of the few holidays when you can give free rein to your imagination in choosing an outfit and turn, at least for one evening, into a real princess for your family and classmates. Thanks to this video lesson “How to choose a prom dress,” future graduates, as well as their mothers, grandmothers and girlfriends, will be able to familiarize themselves with the recommendations of leading stylists regarding exactly what factors need to be taken into account when choosing a prom dress and what rules should be followed. It's no secret that many young ladies begin to think about choosing an outfit for prom long before the event itself - sometimes even a year in advance. There is no single point of view on what a dress for a prom should be, because all girls are different, each with their own style, character and features of appearance. Therefore, it is extremely important not just to blindly follow fashion trends, but to try to ensure that the graduation dress is in harmony with the graduate’s personality, reflects her individuality and emphasizes her external advantages. Many girls prefer to follow traditional rules in choosing a dress - they choose pastel colors, light fabrics, feminine silhouettes. Of course, this is already a classic, so such outfits will always be appropriate for a prom. However, if a girl wants to show off her originality, then it is quite possible to get creative - choose more unusual colors and styles. As a rule, black is considered an undesirable color - it may be too heavy and gloomy for a young girl during the prom.

We hope that this video lesson will help each of our viewers make the right choice in favor of the most beautiful and stylish prom outfit that will allow the girl to feel like a true lady.

It’s no secret that human health is the most important thing, so taking care of your own health and your body should start from a very early age. As they say, many diseases are much easier to prevent in time than to treat later, when the disease has already begun to develop intensively.

High-quality medical services are in demand everywhere and always: both a thousand years ago and today. It is well known that the profession of an aesculapian does not tolerate unprofessionalism and amateurism, therefore you should seek medical help only from highly qualified specialists. Otherwise, poor-quality medical care may not only fail to bring the desired improvement, but, on the contrary, may further aggravate the situation and harm health.

Today, the services of large general medical centers, so-called family medical centers (or clinics), which will provide high-quality medical services to all family members: both adults and children, are in great demand.

Among the many advantages of such medical centers, I would especially like to highlight the following:

  • Extremely high quality of medical services offered. The entire staff of a large center - from the head physician to the nurse - is highly qualified, has rich practical experience and an impeccable reputation, so specialists of this kind of medical institutions successfully cope with even the most complex tasks;
  • Versatility. Clients of the above-mentioned private family-type clinics can safely come here with diseases of a wide variety of profiles - from therapeutic to gynecological. At the same time, an integrated approach to each patient is provided, his previous complaints and requests are taken into account.
  • Comfort. One of the main disadvantages of public hospitals - the lack of necessary amenities for comfortable treatment - has been completely eliminated in private medical institutions. Both outpatients and inpatients can stay in pleasant conditions and enjoy all the necessary amenities.
  • Availability of the most modern medical equipment;
  • Reasonable pricing policy, fixed cost of services and the absence of any extortions, additional payments and demands for “thank you” in envelopes, which patients of so-called “free” clinics constantly face.

All of the above advantages are fully possessed by the well-known German-Ukrainian medical center Aurora, which offers everyone first-class medical services, consultations and assistance from highly qualified world-class specialists.

The violin is a wonderful musical instrument that has won millions of hearts thanks to its lyrical sound. However, violinists (both beginners and professionals) are well aware that the violin not only has a delicate and fragile sound. It is also a rather intricate instrument in itself, which requires a special approach and care.

First of all, it is worth protecting the violin from direct sunlight to avoid drying out. Under no circumstances should this musical instrument be left under the scorching sun. The same applies to severe frosts: the violin generally does not like significant temperature changes, so you need to try to maintain a favorable temperature regime in the place where the instrument is stored. Remember that you should not leave the violin near open heat sources: fireplaces, air heaters, stoves, and so on.

Second, no less important advice: the violinist must constantly monitor the level of humidity in the environment where the violin is stored. This musical instrument does not like either excessive humidity, since it causes the wood to become damp and possibly even mold, or too dry air, because in the latter case, cracks and other damage may appear on the wood - and the instrument will become completely unsuitable for use. Experts recommend maintaining an optimal indoor humidity level of 45-60 percent.

An extremely important responsibility of the violinist is also the regular cleaning of the instrument, which should preferably be cleaned and wiped after each use. Do not neglect this responsibility in order to avoid the appearance of dirt, abrasions and other unpleasant signs of use on the body of the violin. To avoid this, we suggest using online stores, for example,

However, even if you fully comply with all the basic recommendations for caring for a violin, its owner is not insured against damage to the instrument. Both as a result of natural wear and tear (if the violin was used for a sufficiently long period of time), and as a result of some unforeseen accidents (blows, falls, other mechanical damage).

If such troubles occur, you should not hesitate, but contact a qualified violin maker who can offer an extensive range of instrument repair services - from replacing strings to restoring the varnish.

Salsa is a dance style of Afro-Cuban origin. According to one version, salsa owes its name to hot sauce: this dance is just as “hot” and is also a mixture of ingredients - different dance styles. Now salsa continues to gain popularity among the common population. How to learn to dance salsa? Read on.

How to dance salsa

Salsa is a dance that you can learn to dance from scratch at almost any age. Of course, the best way to learn how to dance salsa is to enroll in a dance school, where you will be taught by an experienced teacher and you will have the opportunity to interact with beginner dancers just like you.

However, if you do not have the opportunity to attend special classes, and the desire to dance is great, then you can try learning salsa at home. On the Internet you can now find a large amount of information about what salsa is, video lessons that will help you understand the basics of dance, videos of performances at dance competitions, special musical compositions for salsa dancing and much more. Don't let the lack of a partner bother you - all the basic salsa movements can be understood and learned on your own and alone.

When practicing salsa, wear appropriate clothing. Salsa assumes that clothing should not hinder your movements. Therefore, girls can wear a wide dress or skirt; men can wear loose trousers and a shirt. Take your choice of shoes even more seriously: to avoid injuries, choose shoes with stable and not too high heels. Ideally, it is better to purchase specialized dance shoes.

Learn to dance salsa at home

To dance salsa, you need to learn the basic steps that are the foundation for this dance style. But first, remember a simple piece of advice: don’t hunch over. You want to look good while dancing, right? Then stand up straight, straighten your shoulders and arch your chest slightly forward. This pose will help you keep your balance. This is especially true for women who have to do double and triple turns.

Closed position

To perform the closed position, the man places his right hand on his partner's left shoulder blade. The girl's left hand rests on the man's right shoulder. The partner takes the girl's right hand in his left hand.

Your hand should be held approximately as if you were about to wave in greeting, but its position should not be higher than the shoulder.

This position is performed as follows. The partner takes the girl by the hands (the partner’s right hand holds the girl’s left hand, and the left hand holds the right), but in a different way than in a closed position: you should hold the partner’s hand by clasping her fingers with yours - just like holding a glass, for example (but the thumbs are not used). The dancers hold their hands at waist level.

It is these two positions that are used when performing the basic steps of salsa.

For basic salsa steps, the best count is: "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight." The pause is performed at the count of “four” and “eight”. Determining when to start counting may seem like a difficult task, but once the music starts it shouldn't be a problem.

Salsa for Beginners: Basic Steps

Now you can move on to learning the basic steps that distinguish salsa.

The most basic step - basic - is as follows. As the count begins, the partner steps forward with his left foot, then on the count of “two” he “stomps” on the spot with his right foot (you transfer your weight to it), and on the count of “three” he places his left foot in the starting position. At “four” the partner holds the step.

The second half of the main step is similar to the first, with the difference that the partner steps back on the left foot for the count of “five”, then steps in place with the right foot for the count of “six” and returns the left foot to the place for the count of “seven”. At “eight” the man again maintains his step.

The female partner’s main steps are no fundamentally different from the male ones, except that they are performed as if in a mirror image in relation to the partner’s steps.

Now you need to learn how to dance a movement called “Back Break Back”, without which salsa is also impossible. It is the same for both women and men, and is similar to the previous basic step. The algorithm of actions is as follows:

  1. Take a step back with your left foot.
  2. Take a step in place with your right foot.
  3. Place your left foot back.
  4. Now step back onto your right foot.
  5. Step in place with your left foot.
  6. Place your right foot next to your left and hold the step for two counts.

To learn the “Back Break Left” element, you need to perform “Back Break Back”, but at the third point, turn your left leg so that it hides behind the right and the toe points to the left (counterclockwise). Conversely, for Back Break Right, rotate your right foot clockwise, toe pointing to the right.

As you practice these steps, make sure you shift all your weight back when you step back on your left or right foot. The weight should be transferred from the toe to the heel.

For the “Forward Break Step Left” movement:

  1. Step forward with your left foot and place it in front of your right (toe pointing to the left).
  2. Shift your weight to your right leg.
  3. The left leg returns to its starting position.

When performing “Forward Break Step Right”, repeat the exercise in the same way, only with your right leg.

To take a side step to the left, follow these steps:

  1. Step to the side with your left foot.
  2. Take a step in place with your right foot.
  3. Place your left foot back.

The side step to the right is performed similarly.

Now consider such a key element as “Walk”, with which salsa often begins, and on which the remaining elements are then layered.

It is performed as follows. The partner takes diagonal steps: on the first and second counts he steps back in place with his left foot, and on the third count he puts it to his right foot, and vice versa. The partner, starting with the right foot, performs the “Walk” itself: she steps forward with her right foot, then steps with her left, and on the third count she turns 180 degrees on her right foot and walks back - the movement is repeated. At the same time, the girl accompanies the “Walk” with wave-like movements of the hips, reminiscent of a “figure eight”.

And let's move on to another key movement of such a dance style as salsa, which is called “Enchufla”. With it, you change places with your partner. To replicate this movement, the man raises his arm and allows his partner to walk underneath it while he turns from his right foot to his left. At this time, the girl, turning her back to her partner, passes under his arm. As a result, both partners perform a 180-degree turn.

We've covered the basic elements that beginner dancers will benefit from, but of course, salsa doesn't end there. Your task is to first master the most basic elements, learn to feel the music, rhythm, and confidently perform the movements we have discussed. And only then, having succeeded in this, you can master new movements and even try to improvise.

And don’t forget to attend salsa parties or salsa discos, where you can practice dancing with a partner, watch other dancers and feel the salsa atmosphere that you still can’t achieve at home.

If you want to see what real Cuban salsa is like, the video below will help you with this:

Many modern people, even as adults and accomplished people, attend courses where professional dancers teach them how to dance such an amazing dance as salsa. It doesn’t matter if it’s too late to start a career as a professional dancer. Most people who decide to learn these spectacular movements, which every observer watches with bated breath, simply want to dance salsa. Their soul sings, and this melody is in tune with the rhythm of the dance itself! Even at a young age or as a child, a person does not always come to classes counting on some kind of professional future!

Moreover, in modern times, when those dancers who are more serious no longer have such complexes. Everyone can be enchanted by the rhythm of the music. And go salsa dancing! But the question arises, is professional lessons with a trainer really necessary if you just want to dance with your loved one as a couple or with friends?

Why not have fun by playing harmless pranks on each other, turning on training videos, and starting to imitate the movements of the dancers? This proposal is not as meaningless as “seekers of free cheese in a mousetrap” believe at the first opportunity! Many people who have turned on this video once already dance more interestingly than professionals who do not add any “zest” to the dance. Even in such a dance, it is important to be able to act according to a pattern, but not consider it a kind of rule. The mere glance of dance partners at each other sometimes replaces “classical” concentration. The courses will teach only the basics. And the video will allow you to experiment a little, moving away from the “system”, but not from each other!

A selection of salsa dance video lessons for beginners:

Below there is a whole selection of step-by-step video Salsa dance lessons for beginners, which will no doubt teach you something necessary and useful.

Basic step

With slight adjustments to different styles of salsa, the basic movements consist of fast-fast-slow steps to the four percussive rhythms (counts, beats) of the music.

Every fourth count is used for a slow weight shift, a pause, or, in some styles, a kick (throwing the leg out) or tap dance (strike the foot to the floor).

A number of styles have a clear definition of the beginning of the dance. Los Angeles, London - begin on the count of “1” - a strong beat. New York (= ModernMambo = EddieTorresstyle = On 2), Puerto Rico, Palladium and Cuban Dream - start on the count of "2".

Other types (Cuban, Colombian, Venezuelan) can begin on any beat of the music.

In some regions, the strong beat is considered correct, in some - tiempo, in some - contratiempo, in some - not fixed at all.

  • Venezuelan and Colombian styles

They also differ in that due to the specifics of a number of elements in the dance, a rhythm shift may occur. That is, during 1 dance there may be the beginning of movements on “1”, and on “2”, and on other counts. This happens after certain figures that can change the rhythm of the dance.

  • Cuban style

Dance in Cuban style can begin on any count, but the dance pattern cannot change in the middle of one dance.

Salsa in any style as a dance is tied to Latin American music with a 4/4 time signature where the active beat falls on one time. Due to the latter, the first active movement in dance also begins at once, be it a step or an active check into the floor.

Due to the fact that many styles use a check in the parquet on a strong musical beat (counting times), others often mistakenly perceive this as an active beat on 2.

Moreover, the active first step cannot in any way begin on 3, since this contradicts all musical laws and rules, the only exception being syncopation (dancing a broken rhythm as a result of complex movements to the next active beat).

And of course, the dance cannot begin with the last 4th beat since this is the end of the musical phrase.

The most important thing in the dances of a Latin American group is musicality and rhythm, since the dancers are a verbal continuation of the flight of the soul of the music itself.

Salsa styles

In the world, salsa is divided into two types and five main subspecies:

« Circular"salsa, it includes:

  • Cuban salsa (casino),
  • Venezuelan (Dominican) salsa and
  • Colombian salsa.

« Linear» salsa or salsaCross-bodystyle. This includes salsa:

  • Los Angeles,
  • London,
  • NY,
  • Palladium
  • Puerto Rico.

Due to its enormous popularity, some consider it a separate species Rueda de Casino (RuedadeCasino).

  • Salsa Casino

The style is based on traditional Cuban music and varieties of son dance - Montuno and Guaracha. The basic step begins on any beat, and the rhythm is maintained throughout the dance. The geometric pattern of the dance is circular (the center of the circle is the center between the partner and the partner), but sometimes there are linear components - these are mainly borrowed from Son and Rumba.

In many countries, salsycasino dancers use the so-called tap (a short and light strike with the toe or heel of the foot on the floor) on a count of 4 and 8. Characteristic features of salsa are 4/4 time signature, fast tempo, complex rhythmic pattern, which is a combination of tumbao and clave rhythms.

Casino is a Cuban dance that began to develop in the mid-20th century. Around 1956, at the CasinoDeportivo club, individual couples began to separate from the general rueda, which they loved to dance in this club and danced separately from all the couples.

Most often danced a tiempo- on the first beat, in some provinces of Cuba (for example, Camagüey) salsa is danced on contratiempo (on the weak beat, “on two”), in Cuban villages ordinary people dance on the third beat. It should be noted that in Cuba there are different types of dance: “performance” or show style - Salsa Casino and street style - Salsa Cubana.

A characteristic feature of the show style Salsa Casino is the abundant presence of knots (complex figures with hands) and special plasticity, the source of which is Rumba and Dream.

  • Street Cuban salsa (Salsa Cubana)

It is calmer and contains fewer complex elements, while being more focused on artistic play between partners. The hands of the partner and partner are sometimes torn apart, especially in a street casino, but the dance still maintains a circular dynamic.

  • Venezuelan (Dominican) salsa

The basic step starts on any beat. During one dance, the beat for the basic step may change due to the specific elements of Venezuelan salsa. The geometric pattern of the dance is circular, the center of the circle is usually the center between the partner and the partner. A characteristic feature of the Venezuelan style is “impulse” management. Salsa music for dancing this style is fast.

  • Colombian salsa

The basic step starts on any beat. During one dance, the beat for the basic step may change due to the specific elements of Colombian salsa. The geometric pattern of the dance is not rigidly fixed; there can be both linear and circular elements.

A characteristic feature of the Colombian style is the presence of a large number footwork and the permissibility of using elements of acrobatics. Salsa music for dancing this style is fast.

  • Salsa Los Angeles

The modern style of salsa L.A. was created around the 90s in Los Angeles by the founders Luis Vazquez, JobyVazquez and two of Luis' brothers - Francisco and Johnny.

The basic step of this style is danced on the downbeat of the music - on the count of 1, the geometric pattern of the style is linear and based on movement cross body lead(translation by line partner), salsa L.A. is characterized by a fast and dynamic tempo, many fast combinations, fewer improvised solos, but a lot of feminine and masculine style.

Partners pass their partners around in a circle and improvise according to the music. Now widespread in Cuba Rueda de Casino the so-called new style, which is characterized by a restructuring from a circle into a line within the framework of the rueda dance, the formation of several rueda circles either side by side or one inside the other and the so-called dua-elements that dance within the rueda in two pairs, which after the end of the figure return again to general circle, as well as the use of acrobatic elements.

Also, the modern figure is characterized by a more frequent change of partners and partners, so during the execution of one figure, partners and partners can change several times. Rueda de Casino divided into 2 subspecies: Rueda de Cuba And Rueda de Miami.

The second subtype arose in the USA under the influence of linear styles, and therefore a number of linear movements are used in the dance.
